Teams have won twelve (12) conference/league titles

Seven of last ten teams ranked nationally:

2007 (4th), 2006 (8th), 2005 (19th), 2004 (25th), 2002 (9th), 2001 (12th), 2000 (24th)

Ten (10) individual wrestlers have won fourteen (14) state championships

Has coached 61 state place winners, 45 regional champions and 61 district champions

The only wrestling coach in Pennsylvania to accomplish the following:

oCoach at least one state champion at three (3) different schools

oWin at least one state individual tournament at three (3) different schools

oWin at least one state team (dual meet) tournament at two (2) different schools

oBe voted state coach of the year in both the AAA and in the AA classifications

oBe voted state coach at the year while coaching at three different schools

oBe voted state coach of the year five (5) different times


Teams have won five (5) district sportsmanship awards (voted on by wrestling referees chapter)

Teams have won two sportsmanship awards at the prestigious Beast of the East Wrestling Tournament


Personal information


Prior to arriving in the Lehigh Valley and Easton, PA, Crowell served as an assistant wrestling coach at Lock Haven University (1975-76) where he also competed as a wrestler (1971-75).  While a student-athlete at LHU, Crowell was a two-time PSAC place winner and team captain.  He hails from Corry, PA where he was a District 10 wrestling runner up as well as a 2-time all-league football player while at Corry Area High School.


Crowell is active with wrestling during the “off season.”  Besides running spring, summer, and fall workouts for his athletes at Nazareth, he is also busy instructing at wrestling clinics.  In addition, he founded a unique clinic/consultation format available to coaches.  “Dave Crowell’s Winning Wrestling System” has provided consultations, seminars and clinics for coaches throughout the country for the past seven years. 


Crowell lives in Easton, PA with his wife Jackie who is a middle school math teacher, and three of his four children – Casey, presently teaching high school English at Wilson Area High School in Easton, PA; David (20) a two-time state runner up in wrestling and graduate of Nazareth Area High school, currently a red-shirt sophomore wrestler at Penn State University; and Colin (11) a fifth grade student in the Easton Area School District. Michelle, a high school librarian, lives and teaches in Pittsburgh, PA.
